Part 2: "Protesting Oil: Please Don't Spoil" - Teaser

I haven't decided what I am going to call part 2, but basically I am exploring the archetypical divine feminine's relationship with nature and the impact that an oil spill will have on "mother nature". But more so, my message with the female version is on resolution, hope, awareness, transformation through facing adversity and overcoming that adversity. In this situation, it's our ability to face and prevent further tragedy to nature. To preserve what the earth has blessed us with, to protect not only the Great Bear Rainforest, but all forests which are threatened by the oil industry.

I did this photoshoot with Olga last thursday, March 15th. Here is a teaser shot, more to come!

Upcoming Body Painting Competition: Birds of Lac-Saint-Pierre

I am very excited about the upcoming body painting competition in Trois-Rivières, QC. This saturday, March 17th, the wild life artist group, PEGHB, that works in support of Lac-Saint-Pierre, the world's largest wetland reservation as recognized by UNESCO, will be holding their annual group art exhibition; "L'Eco Salon".

Model is: Leatizia V. Iman

They are still accepting last minute entries into the body painting competition. You can see the registration form here: jenmdesign.com/pdf/2012-Eco-Salon-Body-Painting-Competition.pdf. . For any beginners, or experienced body painter, this is a great opportunity to challenge yourself.

Model is: Brittany Taylor Ashbridge

I really believe that body painting competitions, if approached with the right atittude, can be a very healthy growing process for any artist. The competition isn't really with the other artists, it's really between you & yourself. It's the challenge to get the body entirely covered in art in the thematic of the competition (this year it is Birds of Lac-Saint-Pierre), eat as you need to, and get the hair completed in 6 hours. This is not alot of time to paint a person from head to foot, especially if that person is tall!

By the end of the competition, I start to feel more like the artists around me are company for the journey, a shared experience that is at the same time very personal. It's beautiful and I cannot help but sit back and look in awe at all the amazing art I am surrounded by.

Photoshoot: Romance

Wednesday evening I had my weekly photography class with Anthongy Teoli at Concordia University's Continueing Education. The focus of this class was to learn how to work with studio lights, specifically, flash (both softbox and umbrella lights; at home I use studio umbrella lights but they are continious lighting). My team included myself plus 5 other women (we were all ladies by accident, it was just how it flowed).  Our theme was Romance.... Here is a small teaser from the shoot.

Test Shoot

So here's a photo from a test shoot I did at the beginning of the week with the lovely Hannah Legault.
We are discussing a collaborative stop-motion animation, I am quite excited and looking forward to it.

I am preparing for the upcoming body painting competition, hosted by PEGHB, a local artist's association for raising awareness and funds to maintain the protection of the world's largest wetland reservation, Lac St.Pierre.

Stop-Motion Animation - "Protesting Oil: Please Don't Spoil"

Ok here it is, I am not sure if I might make another edit of this particular stop-motion animation, but I think I am calling it finished. It's actually really hard for me to decide when it's finished.I will make a behind the scenes next, which will include a short interview of the model.

Please watch, and tell me what you think (I hope viewers will keep their attention span to the end). I'd love to hear your comments!
