My Development
My first discipline in the arts is as a fine artist. My works prior to 1999, were a study of realism, developing my skills and learning how to draw or paint. It wasn't until after I started working in body arts such as henna or face painting, that I started to develop an abstract or surrealistic approach to my fine art painting.
My current style as a fine artist is fluidic & expressive, working in multiple mediums on the same painting. I have even been known to use henna in my acrylic paintings. My canvas works range in size from very small, to paintings as large as 5'x3' & larger.
Gradually my fine arts are merging with my body arts. Many of my canvas works influence my body painting and vice versa. Current works in progress are in sets of four expressions, I echo a theme from the canvas onto a sculpted bust, then on to a human model which we then take a the photo of the model using the original painting as a prop in the final image.
.
I don't do alot of art gallery showings, but this will change as I build a larger body of work. At the moment, my works have been shown at:
Gallery Massarelli Design in the Belgo Building, St.Ambroise Arts Centre, Montreal International Visionary Art Show, Expo Art Montreal, Art Gallery of Calgary and more.
